specific services. See below for Dr. Oliva-Purdy's 2001/2002 schedule of
lectures/appearances and adult education experience. Parrot caretakers
in the Denver or Santa Fe area! I am available for a series of
lectures (Denver) or a one day seminar (Santa Fe) on "How to provide
good behavioral care for your companion parrot". Class topics are:
Class I: Intro & Basic Behavioral Care: What is a behaviorist?
Choosing the right bird. Importance of Physical care. Proper
Socialization. Preparation for change. Setting up a healthy environment
for your bird: Cage, Cage furniture; Enrichment.
Class II: Parrot Attitude and Behavior Change: Training: for fun,
management and emergencies and Dealing with fearful parrots.
Class III: Some common causes for common problems and How to keep your
parrot occupied.

Denver classes were held spring 2003 at the Avian & Exotic Animal
Hospital in Homestead (just south of Denver; Jerry LaBonde, DVM) and in
Fall 2003 at Golden View Veterinary Hospital, in Golden (Kris Ahlgrim,
DVM). Each class was 3 hours long and cost ~$30/family
(depending upon the location). Please let me know (by sending
